More and more Britons are considering or have already made the move to purchase a property in Spain, either as a holiday home, for rental, to retire or as a combination of all these.
Spain has been a fairly open easy country to live and work in without having too many restrictions, however, since joining the European Union in 1985 many aspects of Spanish Law have changed and 'Spanish authorities are growing stricter about allowing people to remain on "tourist status" when they really live full-time in Spain' (You and The Law in Spain by David Searl pp 22)
It is recommended that before you make any decision to relocate, you seek professional advice.
BCC One World has a network of professionals who could assist you with any aspect of relocating to Spain. There are certain advantages to becoming a resident, though whether you should become a resident or remain a 'tourist' depends on the length of time you stay during each visit.
