Why living on the Costa del Sol makes you younger

We have been asked by the Sur in English News to provide an article for their Place in the Sun recent edition. One of the aspects that fascinated me since my first arrival to Spain and particularly to The Costa del Sol has been the attitude towards life in general; people appear happy and have a spontaneous smile a "joie de vivre". We can only imagine it is to do with their lifestyle. So we ask ourselves a question:

Why does living on the Costa del Sol make you younger..?

I fell in love with Spain when I first visited and was amazed by the landscapes, beaches, culture, food and relaxed pace of life. I have travelled all over the country, visiting the great cities and the beautiful countryside, but the area I felt really suited our family and offered the best lifestyle was the Costa del Sol and Marbella in particular.

I have lived near Marbella for 5 years now and it has done me the world of good. Amazingly, I feel years younger than I did when I moved from the UK in 2006 and I see an improvement in my complexion, my figure and my energy levels and the pain in my joints that I used to experience is no longer a problem.

It's not just me who has noticed the Costa del Sol's rejuvenating properties. I have been helping British people buy property in Southern Spain for over 8 years and there are countless examples of people that I scarcely recognise after a few years I can only imagine is has to do with:

Great year-round climate
Apart from generally making us feel happier, sunshine also provides the body with much needed Vitamin D which promotes calcium absorption to maintain strong bones.

An active, outdoor lifestyle
Thanks to the lovely climate there are plentiful opportunities for being active including golf, tennis, swimming in the sea.

A healthy Mediterranean diet
Eating a Mediterranean diet is delicious as well as healthy and so certainly not a chore to stick to, yet leading medical professional have found that eating this way protects us against heart disease, cancer, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

A more relaxed and slower paced life
The famous mañana attitude can be a little frustrating when you're trying to get things done, but if you just go with it you can really reduce the amount of stress you suffer reducing the pressure on your body and allowing you to lead a healthier and happier life.

If you feel that it would be somewhere which would suit you, come over for a visit, explore the different areas; we would be happy to assist you.
