 | It was not just Michelle Wie competing against the men last week. Horne Park Golf in South Godstone staged its third Ladies Pro-Am last week with lady professionals challenging the men for the top prize. Year on year the event has grown with a full field of lady amateurs playing alongside lady and men professionals from all over the south-east.
Neil Burke, Director of Golf said, "There was some tremendous golf played in superb weather conditions which was reflected in the scores with two local professionals scoring 65, three under par".
Ladies European Tour player Claire Duffy showed the men how the game is played, coming tie first overall with John Earl of Ifield Golf Club, scoring 65. In third place was Wraith Grant of Woodcote Park Golf Club and Nigel Birch of Kent & Surrey Country Club, both scoring 66.
The Ladies individual prize was won by Claire Duffy with Cathy Panton of The Berkshire coming second with 71. Sue Moon, a European Tour player came third with 72.
Michael Vandenberg of Tandridge Golf Club captained the winning team that included Pauline Dunn, Juliet Dunlop and Chris Burren.
Neil Burke was delighted with the outcome of the day commenting,
"The ladies really enjoy the opportunity to play in a Pro-Am competition with a lady or man professional and we at Horne Park are delighted to host this annual event.
