In making this list many more reasons were found why owners of Marbella property could feel secure that they were not only protecting their capital but were augmenting it simply by holding onto their homes in the sunshine. But it was decided to restrict it to ten.
1. Stock Market Drop.
Stock markets around the world have lost half their value since their highs in the 1990s. Pension plans and insurance investments are failing to make their promised payments. Bank interests are so low that just keeping your money in the bank is not really an option. Buying a property off-plan, thus achieving a good deal on the pre-construction price. It can be used for holidays and can be rented out.
2. Prices Are Reasonable.
Although prices on the Costa del Sol appear outrageous to local residents, they are very good value to Britons and other Europeans. Having a property in the UK and one in Spain would allow the investor to spread the risks over two countries.
3. Low Mortgage Rates.
Spanish mortgage rates have fallen back to historic lows. Your house will be at risk if you do not keep up repayments.
4.Almost as Many Golf Courses as Scotland.
5.European Union Factor.
Easy access to the giant European Union market means that the Costa del Sol has an enormous pool of potential purchasers.
6.Limited Land.
Marbella and its immediate surroundings will remain the 'hot centre' of the action. The beaches, the micro climate, the development of Marbella into a resort city with superb shopping, restaurants, services and entertainment will always make it a highly desirable area. Historically, Marbella prices have risen even faster than prices on the coasts around it. As most of Marbella is already built, this means that the limited number of apartments and villas in this prime location will continue to rise faster than the average.
7.Cost of Living.
Yes, prices have risen, but they certainly remain competitive with northern Europe. Not to mention that your winter fuel bill is non-existent in comparison.
8.Safety and Security.
The Costa del Sol is generally perceived as a 'safe' destination in today's disturbed international situation.
9.Improving Services.
The coast highway has finally been widened all the way to Algeciras, and the new motorway is open at last. The outlook is much healthier than might be imagined.
10.Climate.
All experts agree that a bright, warm Mediterranean sun will continue to rise more mornings of every year on the Costa del Sol.
